Dr. Gary completed a BA and BSc at Carleton University prior to graduating from the Ontario Veterinary Collge in 2005. He met his wife Shannan in vet school, and after graduation, she convinced him that they should move to British Columbia. Gary agreed, and spent his first few years after graduation in a busy small animal clinic in Sydney BC.
Gary then moved with Shannan to Saskatoon for a year, before they moved back to Ontario. He has worked in a number of small animal clinics, and more recently, has also spent time working as an emergency veterinarian. Twelve years after graduating, he and Shannan decided it was time to open their own clinic.
The continued opportunities for learning and the ability to pass on knowledge to clients is very important to Gary. He has recently taken an interest in learning to utilize ultrasound, and also enjoys complex medical cases, dentistry, surgery, and reproductive medicine.
Gary has become an avid aquariest, and also enjoys reading, chess, dog walks, and playing with his 3 young children.
Dr. Shannan graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2005 (where she met her husband, Gary). She also completed a BSc at the University of Guelph prior to attending OVC. After practicing in a very busy clinic in Victoria BC for a few years, Shannan decided to pursue an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon completion of her internship, she and Gary moved back to Ontario to start a family.
Since being back in Ontario, Shannan has been working in both emergency and general practice.
Shannan enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine including preventive health care, surgery, behaviour, ophthalmology, emergencies, and diagnosis and management of a variety of medical conditions.
In her spare time, Shannan enjoys spending time with her 3 amazing children, 3 dogs, 2 cats, as well as practicing photography, dog agility, and when time allows, hiking, and reading.
